Editorial correction: This guide uses manufacturer documentation. ThermalFinn has not performed firsthand heater testing. Unsupported measurements, rankings and universal installation prescriptions from earlier versions have been removed.
Start with the Heater Manual
Choose stones specified for the exact heater. Check the required size range, quantity and loading instructions before ordering. A bag marketed as sauna stones is not enough to establish compatibility with every model.
HUUM’s DROP documentation specifies 55 kg of stones in a 5–10 cm size range. Those are DROP specifications, not a universal shopping list. Other heaters require their own instructions; see the Cilindro guide and Finlandia manual guide.
Compare What the Package Includes
Ask the retailer to identify the stone product, total supplied weight and whether the stones are included in the heater package. Bag weights and the amount loaded into a heater are different quantities. Follow the heater instructions even if the shipment includes surplus stones.
Stone capacity by itself does not prove better steam, faster heating or longer heater life. ThermalFinn has no controlled comparison supporting the previous performance rankings on this page.
Load and Maintain According to the Instructions
Use the manufacturer’s preparation and stacking instructions, including the treatment of heating elements and airflow spaces. Do not force extra stones into a heater to reach the weight of another model. If instructions are unclear, ask the manufacturer or installer before using it.
HUUM’s maintenance guidance describes the importance of airflow and inspecting the stones and heating elements. Follow the maintenance schedule for your equipment and usage. We do not prescribe a universal replacement interval for every stone type and heater.
Before Checkout
Confirm the heater model, approved stone specification, package contents and delivery cost together. Use the complete-cost checklist to compare quotes, or return to the heater comparison hub.
